For recent data, please go to MAVISE - Database on television channels and television companies in the European Union or click here for Spain.

This database provides basic data on all the television channels accessible in the European Union and the two candidate countries (Croatia and Turkey). MAVISE contains key information on ca. 3,000 companies, some 4,000 television channels and the line-up of more than a hundred distributors.
MAVISE also includes a short description of the national TV markets and links to the relevant national organisations and sources.
The MAVISE database is edited and published by the European Audiovisual Observatory in the framework of a contract with the DG Communication of the European Commission.

Broadcasting regulatory authority

There is no independent national authority in Spain specialised in broadcasting matters. At the national level, there is an independent authority, the Comisión del Mercado de las Telecomunicaciones (Telecommunications Market Commission), which has some powers concerning the audiovisual sector. However, at the national level, the authority that has powers to enforce most of the provisions related to Spanish broadcasting law is the Secretaría de Estado de Telecomunicaciones.

There are regulatory authorities in Catalonia (Consell de l'Audiovisual de Catalunya) and in Navarra (Consejo Audiovisual de Navarra). A consultative Council exist for the Community of Madrid (Consejo Audiovisual de la Comunidad de Madrid).
