At the start of a New Year the headlines are already marked by major themes such as the war in Ukraine, the ongoing pandemic, the new European Media Freedom Act and Elon Musk’s Twitter adventures. How do these developments affect the media in Europe? Are cinemas recovering from the COVID crisis? Does Netflix replace television? Is there a “European taste” for TV series and films?

Join the Observatory team for this first Council of Europe’s Wednesdays presentation of the year and find out what’s hot (and what’s not) in the European audiovisual industries.

The evening’s discussions will be led by the Observatory’s Executive Director, Susanne Nikoltchev and you’ll hear from the Head of the Observatory’s Department for Market Information, Gilles Fontaine, and the Head of the Observatory’s Department for Legal Information, Maja Cappello.

When: Wednesday, 1 February 2023, from 18.30

Where: Lieu d'Europe, 8 rue Boecklin, Strasbourg.

The conference language is French.

As places are limited, attendees must register for this event in the Council of Europe’s Wednesdays series by sending an email to nadine.michalak@coe.int.
