The European Audiovisual Observatory is back in Cannes with the fifth edition of our successful FOCUS presentation and conversation round! This informal session, co-hosted by the Marché de film, is designed as an “all you need to know” event in a short 45-minute format.
We'll be looking at the current trends in world cinema with a special focus on Japan (this year's Country of Honour in Cannes):
- How did cinema exhibition evolve in 2025?
- Is film production still growing?
- How did European films perform in cinemas?
Deputy Head of our Department for Market Information, Martin Kanzler and our Film Analysts Nicolas Edmery and Elisa Joliveau-Breney will talk trends with a representative of the Japanese cinema industry, Naohiro Kaji, Director of the Culture and Creative Industries Division at the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
