Pauline Durand-Vialle took office as Executive Director of the European Audiovisual Observatory in September 2025. She brings extensive grass roots experience from the European film and audiovisual sector.

After five years at La Société des Réalisateurs de Films (La SRF) in Paris, she was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Federation of European Screen Directors (FERA) in Brussels in 2014. In this role, she represented and advocated for over 20,000 European screen directors across 35 countries, leading FERA’s work on audiovisual policy, copyright and authors’ rights, and freedom of artistic expression.

She chaired the Advisory Committee of the European Audiovisual Observatory from 2020 to 2024 and lectured on European audiovisual policy at Sciences Po Lille from 2023 to 2025.

Pauline holds a Master’s degree in Cinema, Television and Audiovisual Creation Management from the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne and a Master’s degree in Research, History and Audiovisual from the same university. With an initial background in film distribution and international sales, she later specialised in public affairs.
