Alison Hindhaugh took up the post of Communications Manager at the European Audiovisual Observatory in May 2003.
She is responsible for communication, public relations, the organisation of Observatory conferences, press work and social media.
Following an initial degree in French and German conference interpreting and translating at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, she obtained a Masters Degree in Media Production at the University of Kent. She became Programmes Delegate of MAP-TV, part of the European Commission's Media I Programme which funded archive-based documentaries. She also wrote film reviews and articles on the audiovisual industry for DOX magazine as well as participating in the European Commission's EAVE production training course in 1995. She managed a post-production house in Germany (dubbing and sub-titling for Franco-German broadcaster ARTE) while working on the financing and production of several prize-winning European documentaries (e.g. TABU, the last journey by Yves de Peretti and Photographer by Dariusz Jablonski).
