Joan Ramon (Mon) Rodriguez-Amat joined the European Audiovisual Observatory in March 2026 as Senior Analyst on Video Games.

He drives the new pilot project in close connection with both departments at the Observatory. He contributes to expanding the knowledge on current legal and policy research; and providing state of the art market and industry reports.

Prior to joining the Observatory, he worked for over two decades in academia. Ten of which in the UK, including as Senior Lecturer at the University of Sheffield and Principal Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University. He previously worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Vienna and as a lecturer and researcher at Universitat de Vic.

Mon holds a PhD in Communication and Culture from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. His research across law and policy in media technologies and social communication or on the development of innovative methodologies for industry and data analytics is published in books and top ranked international scientific journals.
