Matthieu Santanna joined the European Audiovisual Observatory in 2025 as a Legal Analyst. He contributes to legal and market research on the European audiovisual sector, with a particular focus on incentives and support schemes, data analysis and management of the Observatory’s databases (AVMSDatabase, OPUS, EMFAbase) and the preparation of reports, conferences and publications.

Matthieu holds a Master in Management (Programme Grande École) from emlyon business school, where he specialised in data analytics and cultural management. During his studies, he strengthened his skills in statistics, econometrics, data visualisation and project management, which he now applies to the analysis of audiovisual public policies. Before joining the Observatory, he worked at the Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC) on regional funding schemes for film and audiovisual creation, and at the Alliance Française de Puerto Rico as a production and coordination assistant for the European Film Festival.

Prior to business school, Matthieu completed a two-year Classe préparatoire in economics and business (ECE) at Institution Saint-Jean in Douai, which provided him with a solid background in economic analysis, quantitative methods and social sciences.
