Our first opening presentation will take place on Tuesday 24 March from 10.00 to 11.00 am (in the Auditorium Louis Pasteur), during Series Mania Forum (24-26 March).
The European Audiovisual Observatory is presenting the 2026 edition of our KEY TRENDS report at the opening session of Series Mania Forum this year. All participants are invited! Join us for an informal discussion panel on the latest trends in the streaming and television markets. You'll also get a first free print copy of our 2026 Key Trends report. The Observatory is delighted to get the opening spot at Series Mania Forum for the fourth year running!
This year we'll be zooming in on topical issues, including the following questions:
- Is the recent downturn in TV/SVOD production becoming a new normal?
- What’s the impact of greater production financing through tax shelters?
- Could YouTube be a new outlet for producers?
Gilles Fontaine, Head of the Observatory's Department for Market Information will be talking trends with independent producers Synnøve Hørsdal, CEO of Oslo based Maipo Film, and Robert Franke, joint CEO of Berlin-based Intaglio Films. The session will be co-moderated by Dr Agnes Schneeberger, Observatory TV and VOD Markets Analyst.
A second Observatory presentation will focus on IP Adaptations.
Observatory TV and Video Markets Analyst, Dr Agnes Schneeberger, will share her recent research on TV series adaptations of existing IP. How many works are based on existing IP? Who are the top commissioners of adaptations? How important are books as a source of adaptations and what role do adaptations play in co-productions? Join Agnes at Series Mania Forum on Wednesday 25 March from 10.15 to 10.30 in room 3.2.
And our third presentation focuses on advertising - commercial communications.
Our legal Analyst Eric Munch will do some valuable scene setting concerning the rules on advertising in current European media law. He'll walk us through the current provisions in the Audiovisual Media Services Directive (AVMSD). What do the European rules say about advertising and how does each country apply them? His presentation will open the workshop: Strategic alliances & advertising revenues under pressure: What's at stake for the European audiovisual sector? This event is part of the Dialogues de Lille and takes place on Thursday 26 March – Auditorium Pasteur – from 14.30–15.15.
Access is open to all accredited participants of Series Mania.
Our sessions will take place in English.
