Back Pay-TV and Cord Cutting in Russia

European Audiovisual Observatory announces Moscow conference this October!
Pay-TV and Cord Cutting in Russia

TV audiences in Europe are turning away from their pay-tv subscriptions and using over the top (OTT) services such as Netflix, Amazon Prime or the various national SVOD services. This so-called cord cutting is spreading across the globe. But has it reached Russia? Join us in Moscow this month for a free access public conference on the latest trends in content delivery. The European Audiovisual Observatory, part of the Council of Europe, in collaboration with J’son & Partners Consulting will be presenting a new report on pay-TV and cord cutting in Russia. Our conference takes place on Moscow on Tuesday 29 October 2019, from 9.30 – 14.00, at the Hotel Sheraton Palace. Entry is free and you’re invited to join us for a networking buffet lunch afterwards.

All media professionals, journalists, and academics are welcome to attend – so register free of charge here. Conference languages are English and Russian with translation. You’ll find the programme here.

The conference will be opened by Vladimir Grigoriev, Deputy Head of the Russian Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communication and Susanne Nikoltchev, Executive Director of the European Audiovisual Observatory.

The Observatory team will provide contextual background analysis. The latest data on the European television market will be presented by Christian Grece, European Television and On-demand Audiovisual Markets Analyst from the Observatory’s Department for Market Information. Maja Cappello, Head of the Observatory’s Department for Legal Information, will run us through what’s new in European media legislation relating to content delivery.

Dmitriy Kolesov, Head of TV and Content Department, J’son & Partners Consulting will present their latest report, commissioned by the Strasbourg-based Observatory, entitled Pay TV, SVOD and cord-cutting in the Russian Federation. All conference participants will receive a free copy of the report.

A round table of experts from the fields of broadcasting and OTT content delivery will then zoom in on the real challenges for pay-TV and OTT delivery in the Russian Federation.

Susanne Nikoltchev, the Observatory’s Executive Director, said she was looking forward to “a dynamic pan-European exchange on the current state of pay-TV and OTT content delivery in Europe.”
