Press

We serve European and international journalists with our press releases. We regularly publish facts, figures and analysis from our latest publications or conference presentations in the form of press releases targeting the journalist community.

All press releases are available in English, French and German. We also offer free copies of our publications to bona fide journalists who quote our work in their articles or write about our publications.

Our experts and analysts are often solicited to answer journalists' questions and participate in radio and television programmes. We are very glad to do this inasmuch as the work involved in producing our publications allows.

If you wish to join our unique network of journalists covering the audiovisual industries, or simply wish to receive our press releases for information, send an email to the Observatory's Press Officer (see details on the right). We look forward to satisfying your information needs.

European Audiovisual Observatory renews its Advisory Committee Chair

The Advisory Committee of the European Audiovisual Observatory has elected its Chair for 2023 and 2024. Pauline Durand-Vialle, CEO of the Federation of European Film Directors (FERA) since February 2014, has been elected for a further two-year term, having already held the post in 2021 and 2022.

The European Audiovisual Observatory provides facts, figures and analyses of the audiovisual industries in Europe. Its work covers film, television and on demand services from an economic and legal point of view. The Observatory’s Advisory Committee brings together 42 different industry representative groups with members such as the EBU, ACT, the SAA and CINE-REGIO, for example. It meets in Strasbourg each spring and autumn to give the Observatory grass roots feedback on the kind of information and analysis media professionals in Europe really require for their work. Advisory Committee members also support Observatory’s projects by sharing expertise, data and industry contacts.

Pauline Durand-Vialle expressed her satisfaction at a second term in office. She thanked her fellow Advisory Committee members for their sustained confidence and stated that she looked forward to “continuing her work in contributing hopefully to monitoring a period of renewed growth and recovery after the ravages of the pandemic at a time of sea-changes for the European audiovisual sector.”
Susanne Nikoltchev, Executive Director of the Strasbourg-based Observatory, thanked Pauline Durand-Vialle for having guided the Advisory Committee through difficult pandemic times, online meetings and reduced personal contacts. She paid tribute to her “personal commitment to the functioning and role of the Observatory’s Advisory Committee” and looked forward to a further two productive years.
